Information about staying at Giverny the Dordogne Holiday Cottage

I am Kate Brierley, the owner of Giverny. I spent 30 years taking Villa and Gite holidays with my late husband Trevor and, whilst we have had some good experiences we have generally been disappointed with the standards of self catering accommodation. When we decided to move from England to France we set ourselves some exacting standards. We wouldn't accept less and this is how Giverny, and the Cottage at Giverny came about.

The Dordogne holiday cottagehas been lovingly restored, retaining its old world charm but including modern appliances. The kitchen has everything you will need and your welcomes pack will get you off to a good start. The bathroom has a modern walk-in shower cubicle. The two bedrooms are generous and luxuriously comfortable. The lounge/dining area has tv, dvd and stereo system. Maps, books, brochures, Dvd's, CD'sare all supplied to enhance your enjoyment.

I know it is very frustrating when arriving at your holiday destination to find that the first thing you have to do is to go shopping for such things as washing powder, dishwasher tablets and so on, most of which was unused and left behind at the end of the holiday. That's why an ample supply of such things are provided, together with a generous welcome pack. All towels, including tea towels and pool-side towels are supplied, as is all the bedding you will need.

Information about the local area

There are many beautiful hamlets, villages and towns on the doorstep of this holiday cottage. Bourdeilles is the closest with Brantome only 20 mins drive to the North. To the south is the magnificent town of Perigueux. The area is ideal for many outdoor activities including cycling, rock climbing, canoeing, fishing and walking. It also a superb opportunity for simply driving on the quiet roads and exploring the many easily accessible points of interest in the area. Alternatively many people just just relax in the sunshine at the holiday cottage at Giverny, enjoying the peace and tranquility, making use of the beautiful pool, which is for your sole use, to cool off when you whenever you wish.
